【摘要】:Conditioningofspecimensmaybeundertaken:(1)forthepurposeofbringingthematerialintoequilibriumwithnormaloraverageroomconditions;(2)simplytoobtainreproducibleresults;or(3)tosubjectthematerialtoabnormalconditionsoftemperatureorhumidityinordertopredictitsservicebehavior.However,itisnotwithinthescopeofthispracticetodefineproceduresfordeterminingagingcharacteristicsofelectricalinsulatingmaterials.Theconditioningproceduresprescribedinthispracticearedesignedtoobtainreproducibleresultsandmaygivevaluessomewhatdifferentfromvaluesunderequilibriumatnormalconditions,dependingupontheparticularmaterialandtest.Toensuresubstantialequilibriumundernormalconditionsofhumidityandtemperature,however,mayrequiremanydaysorweeksdependinguponthicknessandtypeofmaterialanditsprevioushistory.Consequently,conditioningforreproducibilitymustofnecessitybeusedforgeneralpurchaseandproductcontroltests.Anyreferencetothispracticemustincludetheinformationneededfordesignatingtheconditioningprocedure(andtestingprocedure,ifapplicable),asdefinedinSection7,oroneofthestandardconditioningprocedurestobefollowed,asdefinedinSection8.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforconditioningelectricalinsulatingmaterials(althoughnotnecessarilytoequilibrium)priortotestingandtheconditionsunderwhichtheyshallbetested.Ingeneralthephysicalandelectricalpropertiesofelectricalinsulatingmaterialsareinfluencedbytemperatureandrelativehumidityinamannerthatmateriallyaffectstestresults.Inorderthatreliablecomparisonsmaybemadeofdifferentmaterialsandbetweendifferentlaboratories,itisnecessarytostandardizethehumidityandtemperatureconditionstowhichspecimensofthesematerialsaresubjectedpriortoandduringtesting.1.2ThispracticeissimilartoPracticeD618.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
