【摘要】:Thistestmethodestablishesproceduresforcollectingelevationanddistancedataoflongitudinalandtransverseprofilesonatraveledsurface.Resultsofthistestareusedprimarilyto:5.2.1Evaluatetheroughnessoftraveledsurfaces,usinganyofseveralroughnessindicesshowninTable1.EquationsrequiredforcalculationsofvariousindexesarecontainedinreferencesshowninTable1.Note18212;Whenthistestisusedtoevaluatethecomplianceofanewpavementsurfacewithcontractroughnessspecifications,thetimelinessofthetestinrelationtothedateofthesurface’installationisofcriticalimportance.SincemostPortlandcementconcretesurfaceswillchangeshapewithinafewdaysafterinstallationx2014;duetochangesinthermalandmoisturegradientswhichcausecurlingatjointsandcracksandslabedgesx2014;forcontractorqualitycontrolonly,itmaybedesirabletogatherprofiledatawithin72hafterpavementinstallation.5.2.2Investigatetheeffectofdifferentconstructionmethodsonresultingpavementsurfaceroughness.5.2.3Investigatethecurvatureof(1)pavementsurfacesduetocurling,and(2)deflectionofstructuralmemberswithinbridgesandotherstructures.5.2.4Identifythelocationsinneedofcorrectivegrinding.5.2.5MeasurerutdepthusingcomputersimulationinaccordancewithTestMethodE1703/E1703M.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesthemeasurementoftransverseandlongitudinalsurfaceprofilesonpavedroad,bridge,andairportsurfacesusingarollinginclinometertravelingatwalkingspeed.1.2Itisdesignedto(1)quantifytheroughnessofnewpavementsandbridgedecks;(2)Investigatetheeffectofvariousconstructionmethodsonsurfaceroughness;(3)determinethelocationforcorrectivegrinding;and(4)evaluatetheeffectofcorrectivegrinding.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
