【摘要】:Thetensilestrengthtestgivesareliableindicationofthequalityoftheleather.Improperlylubricatedandpartiallydegradedleathersgivelowvaluesfortensilestrength.Theorientationofthespecimeninrelationtothebackboneandthelocationofthespecimenonthehideinfluencetheresultssignificantly.Thistestmethodisexcellentfordevelopment,control,specificationacceptance,andserviceevaluationofleather.Thistestmethodmaynotapplywhentheconditionsoftestemployeddifferwidelyfromthosespecifiedinthetestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheloadrequiredtorupturealeathertestspecimenhavingax00BD;-in.(12.7-mm)width.Theloadtorupturedividedbytheoriginalunstretchedcross-sectionalareagivesthetensilestrength.Itmaybeusedforalltypesofleatherthataresmoothandfirmenoughtopermitaccuratethicknessmeasurements.Thistestmethoddoesnotapplytowetblue.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
